I inked up this stamp, "Rugged Crosses", for the first time and made a card for Easter. </p><p>Hope you like it. It's been a LONG while since I posted on my blog. I have a simple post today, with a card for AI's first challenge of the year--"Resolutions". <a href="https://artimpressionsstamps.blogspot.com/2021/01/design-team-call-for-2021-last-day-for.html">AI Blog</a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My resolutions include doing some Christmas cards throughout the year, entering a few challenges when time permits, and doing more of these watercoloured cards. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So here is my first entry in an AI challenge! I followed Bonnie's tutorial, using the stamps I have, and keeping it as much like Bonnie's as I could.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdeHmGI-yWNlPU6u1J6CvtjUj2PvxeGL5UAyyOjamSEEPmhACKT5PqeN-reEg-nk0TwgJdIo9g3sqmWvMTZcKwcBoLnn49FGi2HE7YvpEXMeCDn6EaSH_7Dhfk4wp7Swy9VSmgZxZcqpg/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="2955" data-original-width="3941" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdeHmGI-yWNlPU6u1J6CvtjUj2PvxeGL5UAyyOjamSEEPmhACKT5PqeN-reEg-nk0TwgJdIo9g3sqmWvMTZcKwcBoLnn49FGi2HE7YvpEXMeCDn6EaSH_7Dhfk4wp7Swy9VSmgZxZcqpg/w400-h300/IMG_1440+%25282%2529.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />Thanks for looking!</div><br /> <p></p>Kathryn Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08687539899006214572noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1656856592505330971.post-2692709514096361582018-11-25T07:30:00.000-08:002018-11-25T07:30:10.545-08:00PTI November Blog HopPTI has a beautiful Christmas inspiration photo for their challenge this month, found <a href="https://blog.papertreyink.com/2018/11/november-2018-blog-hop-inspiration/">here.</a> <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="200" src="https://blog.papertreyink.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/nov18bloghop-inspiration.jpg" width="166" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I chose to go with the colour scheme of red, white, and a touch of green and light blue. I used the new Bold Borders: Snowflake and die cut a sheet of homemade glitter paper. (I used some sparkle acrylic paint to paint a sheet of thin cardstock.) I added the "Joy" sentiment, which comes with the coverplate. I heat embossed it with a red glitter embossing powder, as well as the bow from Corner Adorners. The bells were embossed with clear powder on blue cardstock, and it's done. I like how this turned out, and may make more like this.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKfObVV5VGY9Sj0t8aaoMlocLY-Y5csr8DJhPYHo-_K1vYMC4oklpMRmwmJDlcpM6grE2FmY3pV4AGxF-ivetYV0BHvyF7l3_0wIYGoKN7mJmYEkmUOokVX0-jgDDyHy0py4dC_FGBTFg/s1600/IMG_0573.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKfObVV5VGY9Sj0t8aaoMlocLY-Y5csr8DJhPYHo-_K1vYMC4oklpMRmwmJDlcpM6grE2FmY3pV4AGxF-ivetYV0BHvyF7l3_0wIYGoKN7mJmYEkmUOokVX0-jgDDyHy0py4dC_FGBTFg/s640/IMG_0573.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Here's a closer look at the sparkle. Unfortunately, it's really difficult in photos to see the white sparkle on the coverplate. It's so pretty, yet subtle, in real life.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Thanks for looking, and enjoy your hopping!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifO3Ps3vxG2pYFfTOoMg243kSuq98xzhIL3bQqkpT0qRpQBzGdA9NUBnpo38ulBWHEXfOz3HZCcs1vVB3jpCkEUoMHw6yn8ekoem9FvGtsbuFzw5BggiByfXnK5bld-W8Lr2_W9rm3_vQ/s1600/IMG_0543.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifO3Ps3vxG2pYFfTOoMg243kSuq98xzhIL3bQqkpT0qRpQBzGdA9NUBnpo38ulBWHEXfOz3HZCcs1vVB3jpCkEUoMHw6yn8ekoem9FvGtsbuFzw5BggiByfXnK5bld-W8Lr2_W9rm3_vQ/s640/IMG_0543.JPG" width="473" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I fist stamped the tree with green ink, then restamped with Versamark and embossed with White Pearl embossing powder. The star on top and the "glow" around the tree were embossed with gold glitter embossing powder. (Excuse the poor lighting--it was starting to get dark outside!)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I embossed the lights on the tree with silver, but it was too pale, so went over it with red stickles. The base of the tree was embossed with copper powder.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I die cut my snowflake (PTI) out of acetate and used the negative on one card, and sponged the paste around the positive for the other card. My second card was made by using the positive snowflake and sponging the translucent embossing paste around it. Again, I embellished with a couple small snowflakes and a jewel. The sentiment (PTI) is heat embossed with white powder.<br />

The first one is using dies from SSS. I created a stencil from a piece of DuraLar, and spread the paste into the star, on top of an alcohol ink background. The sentiment is cut out of a gold adhesive sheet, backed with vellum. Jennifer MCGuire did a similar card awhile back, and that was my inspiration for this card. (Thanks, Jennifer!)<br />

Yay! I'll divide them into 3 posts, as there are some different techniques.<br />
The first batch were all made using a PTI snowflake coverplate. Since I wanted some sparkle, and don't have much glitter paper, I made some using some acrylic paint. I just painted it on a couple of pieces of white cardstock. Here is a photo of the paper. I know it doesn't photograph very well, but I was hoping you'd see the sparkle, especially if you enlarge it.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEia-iplXwe069Cbm7_Ya6QmCGU796qldEGJuD2QdnuxvUcC_h-ilV2g4oJ5biPIw5HkOrsPxCRHjSgXLodPtNe0jbzwLdDl6sx7a6INkPCUJQwUqFHx1JGWKApDhW8vehTnItteRTjtAZA/s1600/IMG_0540.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEia-iplXwe069Cbm7_Ya6QmCGU796qldEGJuD2QdnuxvUcC_h-ilV2g4oJ5biPIw5HkOrsPxCRHjSgXLodPtNe0jbzwLdDl6sx7a6INkPCUJQwUqFHx1JGWKApDhW8vehTnItteRTjtAZA/s200/IMG_0540.JPG" width="136" /></a></div>
<br />
And here are the cards I've made using this paint and snowflake coverplate.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidRhux9amhs23XHSuQ0B_cKuCDvxlR9cfvYOM99dftCUhlQFzNgJA5ItjILEwaTr6F9YlQhuXIVxdARvwT7aI-KES4MxyJj-_RjfCgvLoh9wFGryNZzAmKQNP_d3hRSpevQBCO28TJABE/s1600/IMG_0534.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidRhux9amhs23XHSuQ0B_cKuCDvxlR9cfvYOM99dftCUhlQFzNgJA5ItjILEwaTr6F9YlQhuXIVxdARvwT7aI-KES4MxyJj-_RjfCgvLoh9wFGryNZzAmKQNP_d3hRSpevQBCO28TJABE/s400/IMG_0534.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
A close up of the sparkle (I hope!)<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

And a couple more! The snowflakes on the first card were out of the same paper, as are the sentiments, but the larger snowflakes on the second card were coated with pearlescent embossing paste.<br />

I combined a couple of the suggestions into the following. I diecut snowflakes from several layers of white cardstock and glued them together. The top layer is glitter cardstock, which I made using pearlescent paint. Both cards were put overtop watercoloured backgrounds, and a shimmer spritz on top, which you can't see in the photos.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWyIO6AE4rkKzzpx7VZ6y0-GDU6vXk8ZM7r-f33Cf1l-N4kgoPtN2znv4p3livULoR3AAz2RxWO77IkqRZ21qnoRQ914hUQZOlKxCUda9ixinYBl1xDwMHvuMJPWns1_5OAecF0eevM_M/s1600/IMG_0527.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWyIO6AE4rkKzzpx7VZ6y0-GDU6vXk8ZM7r-f33Cf1l-N4kgoPtN2znv4p3livULoR3AAz2RxWO77IkqRZ21qnoRQ914hUQZOlKxCUda9ixinYBl1xDwMHvuMJPWns1_5OAecF0eevM_M/s400/IMG_0527.JPG" width="345" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
This snowflake was embossed, then painted over top. Next time I will emboss last, as it was difficult to remove the paint from the snowflake without taking paint off the background.<br />

Laurie Willison used some stripes on the background of her card, and I wanted to try that. I used 1 inch blue painter's tape to mask off some stripes, then painted my card with some metallic acrylic paint. I'd like to try this again with more narrow stips, as these seem a little too wide for my card. I used Altenew stamps for the poinsettia and pine, and Sunny Studio for the pine cones. WPlus9 was used for the sentiment, and the background diecut is from Papertrey Ink. (It's so nice to combine products from various companies, don't you think?).<br />

Oct.Here is a card I made for Thanksgiving. I'm happy with it, generally, but wasn't sure I liked the border made with Spring Moss design paper.<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIWzamCzuFJhlsfikbZO5zGw8biK0VTTC_ZSB977KgNo_DIDpJsDvxhfH53aeYjdr6hFSIs-UrdAZZxdZmScW85c00H32DqY6h03pIJ1KUktVkrtfzVpiPs95OtS9BPKjODLcDPjrhd2Y/s1600/IMG_0464.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIWzamCzuFJhlsfikbZO5zGw8biK0VTTC_ZSB977KgNo_DIDpJsDvxhfH53aeYjdr6hFSIs-UrdAZZxdZmScW85c00H32DqY6h03pIJ1KUktVkrtfzVpiPs95OtS9BPKjODLcDPjrhd2Y/s400/IMG_0464.JPG" width="281" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So I made another one, using the same products, just changing out the colours of the frame, and adding more sponged colours to the first layer of the background stamp, "Text and Texture: Leaves". I like how you notice the background more than the frame, with this colour scheme.</div>

It's time for Papertrey Ink's monthly <a href="https://blog.papertreyink.com/2018/10/october-2018-blog-hop/">Blog Hop</a>. The inspiration photo is fall/pumpkin oriented. </div>

I still don't have any pumpkin stamps, so just went with the colours and fall theme. My card is similar to one I've already made, but more "pumpkin-coloured", to go with the photo.<br />

I chose the "Bold Borders: Foliage" frame die, and stamped "Text and Texture: Leaves" onto it. I started with Spring Moss card stock, and stamped the first layer of the leaves in Spring Moss ink. The second layer was stamped with Delicata's Copper ink. For the sentiment, I used "Big Hugs" stamp and die set, and coated the diecut with copper embossing powder. I added a few leaves, also embossed, from the "Nesting" coverplate.<br />

I've never participated in this challenge before, but it's not because of a lack of cards that need a makeover!<br />
Here is one card that I've never liked, mainly due to the colours I chose. I stenciled a background behind the panel, but it hardly shows.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYT4gY1-EEWpStcJoPMKju3Bg-maGXVbHhsW1dVGuZDcy0ptLh7Mu-fJfxHHzz7Zdd8ozKLyP3_rMLb6NeTDlicC-Z3St22AbnXbDc2rlmD9QcRY6N76O9uk5ELWSkynoYClK9XzLIIoc/s1600/IMG_0472.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYT4gY1-EEWpStcJoPMKju3Bg-maGXVbHhsW1dVGuZDcy0ptLh7Mu-fJfxHHzz7Zdd8ozKLyP3_rMLb6NeTDlicC-Z3St22AbnXbDc2rlmD9QcRY6N76O9uk5ELWSkynoYClK9XzLIIoc/s400/IMG_0472.JPG" width="330" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Since I used Botanical Blocks II for the first card, I chose to make a Christmas card with Botanical Blocks IV for my second card, along with the general layout. Instead of a stenciled background, I used some patterned paper for my second card. I used the same Pinefeather green as a mat and for the tag. Instead of painting the image, like my first one, I dug out my Prismacolour pencils to colour the second one. I had forgotten how much time that takes!! No wonder I prefer painting--I'm an impatient person! A little Stickles and Perfect Pearls were used to embellish. The sentiment is from "Keep it Simple:Christmas".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihJadXyEj4IeLz7T-r4j_HJbeyFOG2IpXu6n8ibnK5t1Y4VMmbD3cMdozWt3e2lUKyaxLJFyB7r23m-QD9qSIZ-vus4bxiVcEU7x7Jz01jrZFWq2SmZnYvZgsllPMmn4vEqnm2Ca4YoZE/s1600/IMG_0473.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihJadXyEj4IeLz7T-r4j_HJbeyFOG2IpXu6n8ibnK5t1Y4VMmbD3cMdozWt3e2lUKyaxLJFyB7r23m-QD9qSIZ-vus4bxiVcEU7x7Jz01jrZFWq2SmZnYvZgsllPMmn4vEqnm2Ca4YoZE/s400/IMG_0473.JPG" width="293" /></a> </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
And here's a close up of the colouring. I don't think anyone will be mistaking me for Yana, or Sandy Allnock...<br />

Since I don't own any pumpkin stamps (I know!!! I'll have to remedy that), I just went with the colours from the photo, the plaid tablecloth, and a general Thanksgiving theme.<br />
A simple, retro-styled card, with an old, but much loved stamp.<br />

I love that set, so decided to use the smaller of the "maple" leaves to create my card. I used the Pinked Edge Mat and 3 embossing powders: gold, platinum and copper. I used the copper powder to double emboss the veins on the leaves, as well as to apply powder around the edge of the matted layer of cardstock, to match the leaves and sentiment (Banner Sentiments). I sprinkled a little Heidi Swapp gold spray, but it kind of blobbed out, rather than a fine spray. Oh, well...<br />

<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;">
It's time for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop, and here is our inspiration photo. They've just released a few ocean and underwater-themed stamp sets and dies, so I'm sure lots of people will be using them for this hop. I sure am!</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">

</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;">
And here's my effort, using the "Reef Builder" dies and the "Salt Air Sentiments".</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;">
I watercoloured my panel to imitate an underwater scene, and use the dies to create the coral, fish etc. Some Glossy Accents on the fish, as for some bubbles, adds some bling, as well as the Wink of Stella on some of the coral and fish.</div>

<br />
I actually found time to make a card today! It's been awhile since I've participated in a MIM, but I'm happy to have another card made for my stash. I *finally* received the dies for the Farmer's Market Florals, so used that stamp set to create a card today. I also received a couple of the Mix and Mat dies, so used the Plaid Die to die cut a sheet of Dura-Lar for my stencil. I like using Dura-Lar because I can re-use the stencil and any ink that gets on it from sponging rubs off easily. Great challenge, courtesy of Melissa!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

However, this week I had some time, and also stepped out of my comfort zone to do some stitching. Michelle has challenged us to stitch some stems, but I went a little further and put some French knots in the center of my flowers. That was a lot more difficult than the stems, as the knots wanted to pull the centers right out of the card stock! But I persevered, and put some Multi-Mat Medium on those knots so they won't come undone. I stamps I used are PTI's Flower Favourites and Keep it Simple:Mother. This will be going to my mother, who is 92. She likes bold colours, so I kept that in mind with the inks.<br />

This is my first entry in the Merry Monday challenges, after meaning to do this for almost 2 years! Marcia has inspired me to participate, and here I am.<br />
So one Christmas card down, about 30 to go :)<br />
<br />
I used WPlus9's Woodland Wreath stamp set and dies to create this card, and PTI inks.<br />
