Make it Monday #162 - Using Paper Scraps

Papertrey's Make it Monday's challenge is to use up our paper scraps. I think I'll have to make a LOT more cards to even begin using some of my paper up... Melissa used hers to make a "pie chart", of sorts, whereas I have gone a little more simple. I used the Bead triangles die, which makes rather narrow triangles, and it would have taken me for-e-ver to make a complete circle, so I made it a little more simply. Here is my take on the challenge. Thanks for looking!

All supplies are from Papertrey Ink, except otherwise noted.
Paper: Royal Velvet, Summer Rain, Lavender Moon, and mixed variety pack of design paper
Stamps: Delighful Dahlia
Ink: Royal Velvet

Make it Monday #161 - Watercolor "Splats"

I love anything to do with watercolouring, so when Nicole Heady, at Papertrey Inks, showed us one way to achieve a watercoloured background, I had to try it.
For my background I sponged the inks and then placed some water drops onto it. I chose to fade out the colours, and not go right to the edge. While that dried, I made the flower garland, then layered it all up. In  hindsight, I wish I'd diecut the garland out of the background and inlaid this one, for easier mailing, but "oh, well". There's always a next time! (I also wished I'd used white embossing powder for the sentiment...) I did go back with my waterbrush and add some Berry Sorbet ink onto the center of the Sweet Blush flowers to give them some depth. I like that. Perfect Pearls finished off the flowers, with a few extra dots around the perimiter.

Inks: Aqua Mist, simply Chartruese, Tropical Teal, Spring, Berry Sorbet, Sweet Blush (PTI), and Versafine Onyx Black
Stamps/dies:Garden Grace, Embellished Elegance
Paper: Stamper's Select White, Tropical Teal, coral coloured paper from my stash
Other: Perfect Pearls, L'il Inkers Stitched Die

Make it Monday #159 - No Sew Quilted Cards

As a quilter (of sorts), this challenge fascinated me. I made a couple of cards using this technique-one using Dawn's card as a guide, and another one using Kay Demonbren's wonderful Tumbling Blocks design. I'm only entering the first one, though, as I was so blatantly copying Kay's!

The colours are a little off, but I used all PTI patterned paper: Spring Moss, Autumn Rose, Lavender Moon, and the spotted paper is from an old PTI variety pack (I forget the name), that my sister bought for me when I first started this addiction...er...hobby. Because the light is so bad, you can't really see the Zig:Wink of Stella glitter on the die cuts, nor the Glossy Accents on the numbers. I used the Lace Impression Plate to give it that "quilted" look.

This is the one I Case'd, using Kay Demonbren's wonderful Tumbling Blocks design. I like how hers turned out better, as I think I needed a less detailed paper in there... Oh well. My niece and her husband just bought a new house, so this card is going to go to them, and I'm sure she'll appreciate it, as is!

Make it Monday #158 Stamping with Watercolours

I love watercolouring, but just haven't been able to find much mojo lately... However, our anniversary is coming up next week, so I managed to make this card for my husband. The inside will say, "because of you".
I wanted to try something I've never done before, and I don't own any Gelatos, so I used my Inktense Pencils to colour the fern from Meadow Greens, spritz it with water, then stamp. I gathered some "ink" onto a waterbrush, then gently sprinkled some ink onto the rest of the panel, just for fun. It turned out alright, but I think I prefer using Distress Inks for this method.
