I was pleased with how this card came out, with all of the different colours. I usually stay with one, or two colours, but tried something different.  I used gold embossing powder as accents on the "Happiness in Bloom" flowers as well as on the leaves.

Another masculine card, using PTI's "Square Prints" stamps. I like the combination of chartreuse and gold on the dark brown card stock. The background was done with the banner and circle shapes from PTI's "Sketched Shapes".

Papertrey Blog Hop June 2013

It's time for Papertrey's June Blog Hop! We are challenged to use a touch of Gold.
                                                        

For my first card, I continued to use vellum (last week's Make It Monday challenge) for my Year of Flowers: Mums, but this time I embossed with Gold powder. I like how it looks with the yellow and orange inks!

Make it Monday, #122-Polka Dot Texture with Copics, No. 2

Hmmmm... I tried to do a butterfly, from Papertrey's "Beautiful Butterflies" for this week's polka dotted challenge, but I don't think this stamp lends itself very well to this technique, or perhaps that I need more artistic skills in colouring a butterfly! (Probably the latter.) Wouldn't it be great if PTI came out with new stamps with a design in them for these butterfly dies?!? I'd love that, as the ones that are in the set are solid.
Anyway, here is my effort. The flower is from PTI's  "Cutting Garden", and the sentiment is from one of the "Tag-It's.." series. The tag die is "Boutique Borders". It's nice that so many sentiments fit into these new tags! I used Copics to colour the butterfly, and the colourless blender to make some dots, as well as just a touch of glitter to make the wings sparkle just a little, and some Glossy Accents for the butterfly's body. The paper is all PTI, as well as the stamps.

Make it Monday, #122-Polka Dot Texture with Copics

This week, Heather has challenged us to use our Copics for colouring, and to put some spots on with the Colourless Blending pen. Funnily enough, I just made this card for my great-nephew, for his 2nd birthday, so I already had a card made for this challenge! I love it when that happens :) I must remember to mail it today...
I sponged the background, stamped some reed grass, then used "Boy Basics:Frog Hop" (PTI) for the main images. I used Copics to colour the frog, and the colourless blending pen to put the spots on his body. I added some "waves" with Copics and an opaque white pen.

Make it Monday, #121 Vellum Flowers, No. 3

I just had to try this again, but with black Versamark Ink, then heat embossed with clear powder over top. I used mauve and purple inks for the flowers and 2 green inks for the leaves.  Since African Violets have an iridescence to them, I went over the petals with a Zig Wink of Stella glitter brush pen. For the background, I used my Linen and Canvas impression plate, which is very difficult to see in this low-res photo.

I had need of a graduation card, so I was glad of an opportunity to make more vellum sweet peas!

Make it Monday, #121 Vellum Flowers

Besty Veldman, at Papertrey Ink, has challenged us to make a card with vellum flowers this week. I've been wanting to try this, so here is my very first effort. (I'm sure there will be more cards to come, as this is such a pretty way to do flowers!)
I have a friend retiring at the end of June, so this card will be for her. I used "Year of Flowers:Sweet Peas",  and the sentiment is from "Ribbons and Bows". The tag doesn't quite match the patterned paper, though, much to my disappointment. They are "supposed" to be the same pink... (I may redo it in vellum, and emboss the sentiment before I give it to the recipient.) The white background has been embossed with the "Stripes" impression plate, by PTI, although you can't see it in this photograph.
