Make it Monday #166: Debossed Stamped Images

This week's Make it Monday has us using our dies to "deboss" our stamped images. Since I can't seem to stop watercolouring, I decided to try to combine watercolouring with a debossed stamped image. I used PTI's "Year of Flowers: Sweet Peas", and "Think Big Favourites: Birthdays". This card will be going to our niece, whose birthday is in June.

I added some Perfect Pearls Powder to the paint to give the petals a little sheen, although I'm not sure it shows up too well in the photos...

Make it Monday #165: Artsy Watercolour Backgrounds

Oops... As I was typing the title, I just now realized the theme this week is supposed to be "backgrounds"! Oh, well, my watercolouring is on the background of the skateboards--hope that will do! I stamped on two different colours of ink, then smudged them with water, as demo'd by Betsy this week in the PTI challenge. The middle skateboard has 3 different inks, which were painted on by using a paintbrush and water to pick up ink that was "smooshed" onto my craft sheet. I diecut several layers for each skateboard to make them look more like boards, and to give them some dimension (which you can't see in this photo!)

Our great-nephew has a birthday coming up, so this will go to him. I used Maile Belle's card, in the PTI Gallery, as inspiration for this card.
All materials are PTI. Thanks for looking!

OCC Watercolours:Day 11- Playday!

Well, I managed to squeeze in one more card. I had a new kitten arrive yesterday, and I don't like to leave her alone for too long, so was unable to participate much in the last couple of days of this class, which has been great!

Tim Holtz demo'd an interesting technique using stencils,so I used a star stencil and some Distress Inks to make this background. After I'd done this one, I thought it would look good in ombre shades of blue, to resemble a night sky. Next time...

OCC Watercolours - Freehand, Day 10

For another day of doing "freehand", I decided to try another tree. I wanted to do one that had some spring blossoms on it. I found some inspiration here and just went from there. I will eventually put a sentiment across the front, on a strip of paper, but don't know what to say, just yet, so I've left it.

Thanks for looking!!

OCC Watercolours Freehand - Day 9 #2

Here is my attempt at copying...er...Case-ing Kristina's card. I tried to make the packages look 3-D, which made it quite a bit more difficult, but it was a fun exercise. I like how it turned out, and will give this to my son for his upcoming birthday. I finished off the packages with glitter pens, Wink Of Stella and a white gel pen. Sentiments are from PTI.  Thanks for looking :)

OCC Day 9 #1

I had to try the tree that was demonstrated today on the Online Card Classes. While it's not as good as Jen's, I'll accept this for my first effort.

Sentiment is PTI. Thanks for looking :)

OCC Watercolouring - Day 7

Well....this certainly took a long time! However, it was fun, and maybe with practice, I'll get faste.! My first try was a bust, but after the excellent videos today, I was inspired to "get back on the horse"! I fiddled way too much with this one, but am pleased with the end result. I still have to put a sentiment on it, and make it into a card, but I must admit I kind of like it the way it is...for now. Stamp is PTI, and all inks are Distress Inks. (It is not quite this bright in real life!)

OCC Watercolouring Day 6

I finally had a chance to "play" this afternoon. I tried this same stamp yesterday, but it didn't turn out at all! However, today, it was much better. Much more practice needed, but I'm enjoying it!
I white embossed this PTI image, and used my tube watercolours to paint this. I tried to keep the wash light, so that I could darken it, and that helped. I still have yet to produce anything remotely like Sanketi's, but I sure would like to! Practice, practice, practice...

OCC Watercolour Backgrounds

Here is another card I made for my niece's birthday. The sentiment is from Cleary Besotted, but all other products used are PTI products, including their dye inks to make an ombre wash for the background.

OCC Watercolour, Day 5

So much inspiration--so little time!! This card took a long time to complete, but I am pleased with how it turned out. I stamped in Versafine Black Onyx ink, then used my tube watercolours to paint the flowers. Many layers later, I was happy, although Dogwoods aren't quite as dark in real life, I did like the contrast from light to dark, and I purposely didn't blend the colours too much (like I do with Copics). I used a white gel pen for some detail, and some yellow Perfect Pearls for the flower centers (which is one thing I am NOT very happy with). I'd like to try this again, but with Inktense pencils, instead. The sentiment is from PTI Mega Mixed Messages.

OCC Watercolouring, Days 3 and 4

I tried my hand at watercolouring a stamp that has been stamped with Distress Ink, then filled in. I used a card that I saw on WPlus9's Facebook page this morning as my inspiration, using Fanciful Florals stamp set. I used a vase from PTI's Mega Gracious Vases, then filled in the flowers. A friend of mine is moving away, soon, so this card will be for her.

OCC Watercolour Stamping, Day 3

Today  had some beautiful examples from the design team. They make it look so simple... Here is my effort. I liked the background that Jennifer did, so I tried that with my curvy block. I don't actually have a rectangular block! I also don't have any Distress Markers, so I smooshed my ink pads onto my craft sheet, then picked up the ink with a paintbrush and painted the various colours onto PTI's Mini Blooms stamp. Then I spritzed the stamp with water and stamped. I stamped the sentiment, touched up the flowers with a bit more ink, added some black dots with a pen. I still think it needs "something", but must get this posted!

OCC Watercolour Backgrounds using Friskit

I am not too happy with how this turned out... I will try it again using a flower stamp, so hopefully it will be more like Jennifer M's gorgeous cards! I painted Friskit over the lighthouse, then chose some dark washes to apply overtop. There were actually 3 blues and a purple, but I guess I over-blended them. I put a small crystal on the light in the lighthouse, and cut two triangles of design paper to simulate the light's beam. The more I look at this, the more I think it will not be kept. Live and learn...
Stamps are from Gina K designs.
Thanks for looking!
Edited to add: I couldn't leave this card the way it was, so I coloured in the stamp with watercolours, too, and added some stars in the sky, and a few waves, with white gel pen. Maybe I will keep it, after all...

OCC-Watercolour Backgrounds with emboss resist

This graduation card uses the emboss resist technique with a watercolour wash over top.
The die and sentiment are from PTI and the background stamp is from Hero Arts (I think! It doesn't have the name on it, anymore.)

OCC-Watercolours, using a Stencil

I used a Tim Holtz stencil and did a masculine card. I liked how the stencil made the pattern in the watercolour paint, and will definitely try this technique again!
I used PTI's Tipped Topped Dies to create this card, and some enamel dots to finish off.

OCC Watercolour Backgrounds-Day 1

Here is my first card, using Laura's technique. It took me two tries, but I was happy enough with this second effort.
Materials are from Papertrey Ink, except for the Distress Inks and the Lil Inkers Stitched Die. Thanks for looking!
