Waltzingmouse "Bedtime Story"

                           Click for Challenges   PAJAMA-PARTY-sketch-2
Waltzingmouse Stamps is hosting several challenges here: http://waltzingmouse.blogspot.co.uk/

The last one, "Bedtime Story" has a sketch to follow. Here is my take on it. I've used the WMS "Little Lanterns" for the image, and "Light of the World" for the sentiment, which was stamped on a Spellbinders die cut. The wallpaper has been dry embossed with a striped impression plate, and then cut with an edger die for some added interest. Some ribbon and pearls finish it off.

Waltzingmouse Pajama Party Aug. 2013

Waltzingmouse stamps is hosting their 2nd challenge contest, here:
                                                                 Click for Challenges

Challenge 1: Tie a Knot In It

For this challenge I used several WMS sets. "Tying the Knot", "Ocean Bound", and "Woodgrain Background". I used the corner knots to make a border in kraft ink, then stamped the ship in blue ink. Some Copics were used to give the indication of water. I die cut a circle and a background out of kraft card stock, and stamped the sentiment with the same blue ink. The blue background cardstock was stamped with the woodgrain stamp, in Versamark ink, to give some texture. Some knotted twine finishes off the card.

Challenge 2: Get Naughty

I used several stamp sets for this card, too: "Ocean Bound", "Safe Harbour Sentiments" and "Tying the Knot".  I cut a tag to stamp the sentiment on, and used the rectangle rope border from "Ocean Bound", then coloured in the lantern with a light yellow Copic pen. I used a woodgrain impression plate on the white panel behind the tag, heat embossed some white powder for the rope border, and added some blue and white baker's twine to finish it off the card.

Challenge 3: Colour Inspiration

For this card, I CASE'd a beautiful watercolour card by Julia Aston, seen here.

I used some different colours, in keeping with the colour challenge, but used the same image and sentiment. (Note: I used the colours, but not the photo itself as my inspiration.) My apologies for the blurry photo!

Challenge 4: Golden Oldies

I don't have any "old" stamps, as I just placed my first order with WMS last month! So "Fine Feathers" was my first WMS  stamp set. I love the feathers as well as the sentiments in this set! I heat embossed the feathers onto vellum with white embossing powder, and then embossed the sentiment. (I seem to be on a blue and white theme for this Pajama Party!)

Thanks for looking, and I always appreciate any comments!

Papertrey's August 2013 Blog Hop

This month, on Papertrey's Blog Hop Challenge, we were to choose a sketch, with an accompanying colour scheme. I chose the following:
                                                PTI-fast-food-5

My granddaughter is starting Grade 2 next week, and I wanted to make her a card to let her know that I will be thinking of her. As I was cutting out all the heart borders, I was wishing PTI had a border die that was all apples. Wouldn't that have been cool? And it would fit with the back to school theme even better! (Or maybe they do and I just don't know it...) However, all the hearts will hopefully show her how much her grandma loves her :) I will be out of town visiting my son and his family this weekend, so hopefully I can figure out how to upload this on my iPad on the 25th!

All supplies and materials are PTI. Thanks for looking!
Stamps: Back to School
Other: Heart Border die, Back to School dies, and PTI design paper and inks, Versafine Black Onyx.

August AEI♥U Challenge

The August Challenge for Avery Elle has the following sketch:

I used the flowers and sentiment from Avery Elle's "Oh Happy Day" stamp set, and the border is from their "Texture Tiles: Be Cool" stamp set. I splattered some ink onto the background for fun :)

Moxie Fab World:The Trendy Triangles Challenge

I'm entering this card in the Moxie Fab World: The Trendy Triangles Challenge. I used Papertrey's "Sketched Shapes" stamp set overlapping the large triangles on the left, and the medium triangles on the right of the banner. Some small triangles underline the sentiment, also from PTI.

Make it Monday, #129-Crayon Resist

When Nichole challenged us to break out the crayons, I thought, "This'll be easy!". Not so. I don't know whether it's the make of crayon that matters, but I had to scrub really hard to get the crayon to stick on the paper, and you couldn't really tell where the crayon was. So, I'm not sure if I'm happy with this result, or not. It's kind of distressed looking, I think, and the top flower turned out better than the bottom one. I may have to try this again, using the crayon as snow, instead of white tips of flowers.
Stamps: YOF: Mums (and dies), Wishing You
Paper: Kraft, Vintage White, Simply Chartruese
Inks: Versafine Black, Simply Chartruese, Seedless Preserves (TH Distress)
Other: Sketched Shapes die, Cuttlebug folder, rhinestones coloured with a Copic, Clear embossing powder, white crayon

Make it Monday, #128-Building Backgrounds (No.3)

Well, we're supposed to be building backgrounds, and build I did!! For awhile now, I've been looking at our inexpensive placemats that we have on our table out on the patio, and wishing I could make a card with a similar pattern. (Is that being a teensy bit obsessed, do you think?) So now that I have Meadow Greens, with those gorgeous fern stamps, I thought I would give it a try. Besides, it fits the challenge, doesn't it? (Ashley used all dots, but I don't think we "had to" to use all the same stamp--I hope.)
Here is the placemat.
And here is the card I made.  I was quite happy with the way it turned out!

All materials are PTI, unless otherwise indicated.
Stamps: Meadow Greens, Text Style, Fancy Flourishes, Crackle background, Turning a New Leaf and Boutique Borders (sentiment)
Inks: Fine Linen, Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Bundled Sage. Peeled Paint, Forest Moss (Distress Inks)
Paper: Vintage Cream, Simply Chartruese
Dies: Mat Stack 6, Limitless Layers: Ovals
Other: Twine

Make it Monday, #128-Building Backgrounds

I've used butterflies and flowers to "build" the background for this card, using the butterflies from "Beautiful Butterflies" and the little flower from "Tag, It's #3". I stuck with soft colours, and an overall upward sweep of motion, as if the butterflies were flying off the page. I also used the "loop-de-loop" border, keeping a butterfly's motion in mind.  The sentiment is from "Think Big #24", and two narrow ribbon strips finish it off.
All materials are PTI. Thanks for looking, and have a great day!

Make it Monday, #128, Stamping Random Backgrounds

Ashley demonstrated how to stamp a random background on today's Make it Monday, for Papertrey Ink. Where she used dots, I decided to try it using stars. I used the 3 sizes of stars from Stargazer Additions, and a sentiment from this set as well. When I'd finished the whole background, it just looked like too many stars, so I sliced it diagonally, and added some design paper, from MME, as well as a strip of Aqua Mist striped paper over the join. The tag is Limitless Layers: Ovals, and has a little sponging in blue ink to tie it in more with the background. A few gold stars, cut out with the coordinating die, were added for a finishing touch.
All materials are from PTI. Thanks for looking!

AEI♥U Challenge

I'm new to Avery Elle stamps, but am loving them! I have more on order, but in the meantime, I used the one set I do own ("Oh, Happy Day"), to make this card.
The challenge inspiration photo was jars of arrows, so I have used the Avery Elle Chevron Die, which looks like the "feathers" on an arrow, as well as the "For You" sentiment and the arrow image, which grounds the sentiment. I also used design paper from Michael's, and ivory cardstock. I coloured the arrow with a Copic, to coordinate with the starburst images scattered around the top of the card.

This card is entered in the Avery Elle Challenge, which ends Aug. 4th.

You can see here how I've popped up the front panel to give some depth to the Chevron border.
Thanks for looking! Have a great day!

Simon Says Stamp-Back to School Challenge

My 7-yr-old granddaughter, Amber, wanted to enter the Simon Says Stamp: Kid's Back to School Challenge, so here is her card. She not only decorated the front of the card, but she spent a lot of time stamping and decorating the inside, as well as the back--all by herself!  Didn't she do a great job?
