It's time for Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop, and there is a wonderful inspiration photo!
Don't you just love those vases and flowers! I would've loved to have painted this whole picture with watercolours, but I just know it wouldn't have been very pretty. I think glass is actually quite difficult to paint. Instead, I used "Just the Jar" stamps and dies, heat embossing the image onto vellum, then used some Copics to colour them in. My PTI ranunculus stamps were too large for this composition, so I substituted flowers from Gathered Garden. I added the glass highlights with a combination of glossy accents and white gel pen. The background is Soft Stone paper. I look forward to seeing what everyone else has done for this challenge!
And here's another look at it in daylight, instead of florescent lighting.
Thanks so much for looking, and I always appreciate your comments.
Beautiful! Those jars turned out so well. And, bonus, I learned a new word (haha) Ranunculus. Sounds much better than tight fluffy flower.
ReplyDeleteYou did an amazing job - those vases look exactly like glass. Beautiful composition with your flowers too.
ReplyDeleteThese jars look incredible! Perfect card and interpretation.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Love the "glass" finish on the jar.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteLove your vases! You've captured them perfectly off the inspiration photo!
ReplyDeleteWow! Love the dimension your technique gives to the vellum. Really inspires me. Puts vellum in a whole different genre. Takes it away from girlie girl and makes it beautifully neutral for all occasions and genders. And, again, I need to compliment the use of die cuts (which I generally don't like at all), but you've made them integral and lifelike by altering the heights. Well done!!
ReplyDeleteWow this is so stunning. Your jars are so realistic looking. Beautiful card.
