Laurie Willison used some stripes on the background of her card, and I wanted to try that. I used 1 inch blue painter's tape to mask off some stripes, then painted my card with some metallic acrylic paint. I'd like to try this again with more narrow stips, as these seem a little too wide for my card. I used Altenew stamps for the poinsettia and pine, and Sunny Studio for the pine cones. WPlus9 was used for the sentiment, and the background diecut is from Papertrey Ink. (It's so nice to combine products from various companies, don't you think?).

Transformation Tues. Oct.
Here is a card I made for Thanksgiving. I'm happy with it, generally, but wasn't sure I liked the border made with Spring Moss design paper.
So I made another one, using the same products, just changing out the colours of the frame, and adding more sponged colours to the first layer of the background stamp, "Text and Texture: Leaves". I like how you notice the background more than the frame, with this colour scheme.

It's time for Papertrey Ink's monthly Blog Hop. The inspiration photo is fall/pumpkin oriented.

And a bonus card!

PTI Make it Monday #339
Ashley, over at Papertrey Ink, has challenged us this week to stamp a pattern on our frame dies. I chose the "Bold Borders: Foliage" frame die, and stamped "Text and Texture: Leaves" onto it. I started with Spring Moss card stock, and stamped the first layer of the leaves in Spring Moss ink. The second layer was stamped with Delicata's Copper ink. For the sentiment, I used "Big Hugs" stamp and die set, and coated the diecut with copper embossing powder. I added a few leaves, also embossed, from the "Nesting" coverplate.

Thanks so much for looking, and for your uplifting comments. Have a blessed day!

Papertrey Ink Transformation Tues.-Oct 2, 2018
I thought I would give Lizzie's challenge a try, over at Papertrey Ink. I've never participated in this challenge before, but it's not because of a lack of cards that need a makeover!
Here is one card that I've never liked, mainly due to the colours I chose. I stenciled a background behind the panel, but it hardly shows.
And here's a close up of the colouring. I don't think anyone will be mistaking me for Yana, or Sandy Allnock...
Thanks for looking!

Since I used Botanical Blocks II for the first card, I chose to make a Christmas card with Botanical Blocks IV for my second card, along with the general layout. Instead of a stenciled background, I used some patterned paper for my second card. I used the same Pinefeather green as a mat and for the tag. Instead of painting the image, like my first one, I dug out my Prismacolour pencils to colour the second one. I had forgotten how much time that takes!! No wonder I prefer painting--I'm an impatient person! A little Stickles and Perfect Pearls were used to embellish. The sentiment is from "Keep it Simple:Christmas".

PTI Sept 2018 Blog Hop
It't time for Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop, and we had this lovely fall photo as inspiration.
Since I don't own any pumpkin stamps (I know!!! I'll have to remedy that), I just went with the colours from the photo, the plaid tablecloth, and a general Thanksgiving theme.
A simple, retro-styled card, with an old, but much loved stamp.

PTI MIM # 336 Faux Gilded Leaves
Laurie S. showed us some beautiful cards made with embossing powders and Leaf Prints stamp and dies. I love that set, so decided to use the smaller of the "maple" leaves to create my card. I used the Pinked Edge Mat and 3 embossing powders: gold, platinum and copper. I used the copper powder to double emboss the veins on the leaves, as well as to apply powder around the edge of the matted layer of cardstock, to match the leaves and sentiment (Banner Sentiments). I sprinkled a little Heidi Swapp gold spray, but it kind of blobbed out, rather than a fine spray. Oh, well...
A close up of the embossing powders used.
A fun challenge! Thanks, Laurie!

July 2018 Blog Hop
It's time for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop, and here is our inspiration photo. They've just released a few ocean and underwater-themed stamp sets and dies, so I'm sure lots of people will be using them for this hop. I sure am!

And here's my effort, using the "Reef Builder" dies and the "Salt Air Sentiments".
I watercoloured my panel to imitate an underwater scene, and use the dies to create the coral, fish etc. Some Glossy Accents on the fish, as for some bubbles, adds some bling, as well as the Wink of Stella on some of the coral and fish.
I used some pop dots for some dimension, trying to create some depth.
Happy hopping, and as always, thanks for looking!

Make it Monday #329-Making Stencils from Die Cuts
I actually found time to make a card today! It's been awhile since I've participated in a MIM, but I'm happy to have another card made for my stash. I *finally* received the dies for the Farmer's Market Florals, so used that stamp set to create a card today. I also received a couple of the Mix and Mat dies, so used the Plaid Die to die cut a sheet of Dura-Lar for my stencil. I like using Dura-Lar because I can re-use the stencil and any ink that gets on it from sponging rubs off easily. Great challenge, courtesy of Melissa!
Thanks so much for looking, and for your encouraging words.

May 2018 Blog Hop
It's time for Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop. I really liked the gingham tablecloths in their inspiration photo, and the flowers, so those are the things I concentrated on for my card.
I'm so late in posting this! (And it looks like supper is going to be late....again...because I've been busy in the garden, and now a little crafting at the last minute!)
