PTI November Blog Hop

PTI has a beautiful Christmas inspiration photo for their challenge this month, found here.

I chose to go with the colour scheme of red, white, and a touch of green and light blue. I used the new Bold Borders: Snowflake and die cut a sheet of homemade glitter paper. (I used some sparkle acrylic paint to paint a sheet of thin cardstock.) I added the "Joy" sentiment, which comes with the coverplate. I heat embossed it with a red glitter embossing powder, as well as the bow from Corner Adorners. The bells were embossed with clear powder on blue cardstock, and it's done. I like how this turned out, and may make more like this.

Here's a closer look at the sparkle. Unfortunately, it's really difficult in photos to see the white sparkle on the coverplate. It's so pretty, yet subtle, in real life.

Thanks for looking, and enjoy your hopping!

OCC Day 5 - Embossing

One more card, using embossing resist. I stamped the sentiment, then used my watercolour paints to paint the tree shape. A quick card to make!

OCC Day 4 - Glimmer and Glam

I had a few alcohol ink backgrounds done, and used this opportunity to make them into cards. I die cut the SSS star from mirror cardstock, and embossed a sentiment with coordinating embossing powder. I made 7 of these cards, altogether.
Again, this design idea is from Jennifer McGuire.

OCC Day 3 - Colouring

One more quick card, using Prismacolour pencil crayons to colour in the image (PTI). I used Perfect Pearls and Stickles to embellish the berries.

OCC Day 5-- Embossing

I wanted to try Kristina's emboss resist, with ombre inking, so used this SSS stamp. I heat embossed with silver and inked with two shades of blue/teal ink. I wanted to add some rough embossing around the perimeter, as well, and liked the organic, framed look it added.

And here is a closer look at the shine.

OCC Day 5-- Embossing

Here is a quick card made with a lot of embossing.

I fist stamped the tree with green ink, then restamped with Versamark and embossed with White Pearl embossing powder. The star on top and the "glow" around the tree were embossed with gold glitter embossing powder. (Excuse the poor lighting--it was starting to get dark outside!)

I embossed the lights on the tree with silver, but it was too pale, so went over it with red stickles. The base of the tree was embossed with copper powder.

OCC Day 4, Part 3

My last 2 cards were done with transluscent embossing paste, and Dawn was my inspiration. I die cut my snowflake (PTI) out of acetate and used the negative on one card, and sponged the paste around the positive for the other card.  I used some smaller snowflakes (WPlus9 and WMS) to embellish the large flake, with a jewel in the center.

The die cut sentiment is cut from homemade glitter paper, and the whole card was sprayed with Shimmer spritz.

My second card was made by using the positive snowflake and sponging the translucent embossing paste around it. Again, I embellished with a couple small snowflakes and a jewel. The sentiment (PTI) is heat embossed with white powder.
If you made it through all 3 posts, congratulations! I have never posted so many cards all at once!

OCC Day 4, Part 2

I also used some gold embossing paste, and stencils to create the following 2 cards. The first one is using dies from SSS. I created a stencil from a piece of DuraLar, and spread the paste into the star, on top of an alcohol ink background. The sentiment is cut out of a gold adhesive sheet, backed with vellum. Jennifer MCGuire did a similar card awhile back, and that was my inspiration for this card. (Thanks, Jennifer!)

My second card uses the same gold embossing paste, and a Tim Holtz stencil. The sentiment (Penny Black) and the mat layer were done with gold embossing powder.

OCC Holiday, Day 4: Glitter and Glam

In spite of not having any foil or a laminator, I was still inspired by all the Glitz and Glammer of day 4, as I made a bunch of cards! Yay! I'll divide them into 3 posts, as there are some different techniques.
The first batch were all made using a PTI snowflake coverplate. Since I wanted some sparkle, and don't have much glitter paper, I made some using some acrylic paint. I just painted it on a couple of pieces of white cardstock. Here is a photo of the paper. I know it doesn't photograph very well, but I was hoping you'd see the sparkle, especially if you enlarge it.

And here are the cards I've made using this paint and snowflake coverplate.
A close up of the sparkle (I hope!)
And a couple more! The snowflakes on the first card were out of the same paper, as are the sentiments, but the larger snowflakes on the second card were coated with pearlescent embossing paste.

OCC Day 3, Colouring

For this colouring challenge, I chose to watercolour a background for this nativity die (Penny Black). I also watercoloured the die itself, although using my Copics would have been easier! The sentiment is from PTI.

OCC Day2--Diecutting

Today's focus is on diecutting. I combined a couple of the suggestions into the following. I diecut snowflakes from several layers of white cardstock and glued them together. The top layer is glitter cardstock, which I made using pearlescent paint. Both cards were put overtop watercoloured backgrounds, and a shimmer spritz on top, which you can't see in the photos.

This snowflake was embossed, then painted over top. Next time I will emboss last, as it was difficult to remove the paint from the snowflake without taking paint off the background.

OCC - Day 1

Laurie Willison used some stripes on the background of her card, and I wanted to try that. I used 1 inch blue painter's tape to mask off some stripes, then painted my card with some metallic acrylic paint. I'd like to try this again with more narrow stips, as these seem a little too wide for my card. I used Altenew stamps for the poinsettia and pine, and Sunny Studio for the pine cones. WPlus9 was used for the sentiment, and the background diecut is from Papertrey Ink. (It's so nice to combine products from various companies, don't you think?).
